With a score of 50.3, UFOP ranked #64 in the "Latin America Universities" category, in the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine ranking this year. 

The magazine method is based on 13 performance indicators grouped into five different areas, each one with distinct values: Teaching - 36%, Research - 34%, Citations - 20%, International Outlook - 7,5%, and Knowledge Transfer - 2,5%. 

UFOP's scores were the following:

- 56.7 in Research  

- 56.4 in Teaching 

- 54.2 in Knowledge Transfer  

- 37.6 in Citations 

- 25.1 in International Outlook 

In the last ranking,  UFOP achieved position #59, but with a smaller score (49.5). The University has been also included in the "Impact Rankings" promoted by the same magazine, and achieved position #1 among the universities from the state of Minas Gerais and #12 among Brazilian institutions.
